Sherline Digital Read Outs Chip Upgrade 81705
Sherline Digital Read Outs Chip Upgrade 81705
This new chip upgrade allows our Digital Readout to function with our ball screw machines as well as our standard leadscrew machines. We also programmed some upgrades based on customer feedback, like having a Metric display on an Inch machine or having an Inch display on a Metric machine.
The new DRO chip has six different modes to choose from based on the machine type, e.g., mill, lathe, leadscrew, or ball screw, and your preference of either inch or metric display on the DRO.
You can order the chip to upgrade your DRO system if you already have a Sherline Digital Readout display. Click on the Instructions tab to learn more about installing the new DRO Chip and the new mode features we have programmed into it.
NOTE: You must make sure you have the correct tach sticker for your machine. Use a 6-pulse (P/N 81510) tach sticker if your machine is a leadscrew machine or a 5-pulse tach sticker (P/N P/N 68060) if your machine is a ball screw machine.
Instructions:
1. Remove all of the axis cables and the power cable from the DRO housing.
2. Unscrew the four corner screws that hold the DRO face plate and control onto the housing.
3. Remove the DRO control from the housing and place it face down on the table.
4. The DRO chip is circled in Figure 4 on the following page. Note the orientation of the original chip that is mounted to the board. The new chip must be mounted
to the board with the letters and numbers facing in the same direction. If you mount the new chip in the opposite orientation, the DRO will not work.
