Description
Sherline High Speed Engraving Spindle 8900
The normal Sherline DC motor driven spindle can be turned at up to 2800 RPM. For extremely fine pointed
tips, much higher speeds are needed. This air spindle turns at up to 54,000 RPM and does not require a very big compressor (1.5 HP) to produce 90 PSI of air pressure. It replaces the standard headstock using the same pin and alignment key arrangement.
Included are the new headstock with extra alignment key and hex key and an air spindle kit containing the air
spindle, 6′ of 1/4″ air line, lubricator fitting for air line, lubricating oil, 2 open end collet wrenches, 7 grinding bits and 3 carbide 1/8″ engraving tools (30°, 45° and 60° tips).
The collet holds tool shanks of 1/8″ diameter. Because of the high speed/low torque characteristics of
an air spindle, this accessory is recommended for engraving, grinding and polishing but not for larger scale metal removal tasks like machining with an end mill.
